How do internet memes, urban legends and conspiracy theories come into being, and how easy is it to manufacture them? Drawing on ‘crowdsourcing’ and ‘cloudsourcing’ techniques to hijack the collective imagination, A Crowded Apocalypse called on the people of Liverpool and of Abandon Normal Devices’ online community to create and disseminate a new conspiracy theory.
