Hidden in Plain Sight [Lovell Telescope]

Addie Wagenknecht’s commission Hidden in Plain Sight will be projected onto the Lovell Telescope at the following times during bluedot festival:

Thursday 19 July \\ 12pm-2am 

Saturday 21 July \\ 11pm-1am


Hidden in Plain Sight Soundscape [Star Field]

Alongside the projection of Addie Wagenknecht’s work on the Lovell Telescope, audiences at bluedot festival on Saturday evening will be able to experience an immersive soundscape in the Star Field. A sonic interpretation of astrophysical data, developed in partnership with the acoustic engineering team at Arup our partners for COSMOS, this spatial audio composition has been generated to provide an immersive auralisation of signals discovered by researchers at Jodrell Bank Observatory. The soundscape can be experienced alongside Hidden in Plain Sight at the following times:

COSMOS Information Point [Mission Control]

The AND team, COSMOS Ambassadors and our partners Arup will be stationed at Mission Control across the festival weekend. Come and meet us, and learn more about COSMOS and this year’s commission Hidden in Plain Sight by Addie Wagenknecht.

Arup will be presenting a series of multi-sensory experiences, based on LiDAR* scans taken of the Lovell Telescope back in 2017, exploring the immense structure in VR and much more.

Mission Control will be open at the following times:

Saturday 21 July \\ 11am-8pm

Sunday 22 July \\ 11am-8pm


Arts-Science Panel [Contact Stage]

Representatives from the COSMOS partners and Addie Wagenecht will be participating in a panel discussion about Arts-Science collaborations on the Contact Stage on Friday of the bluedot festival.  Come along to hear more about the process from the artist and the researchers at Jodrell Bank Observatory.
