Liverpool Cathedral Lady Chapel

Dominating the city’s skyline atop St James’ Mount, Liverpool Cathedral is the largest in the UK.

Annexed in the south-east of the building sits the richly decorated Lady Chapel. This intimate space, the oldest part of the Cathedral having celebrated its centenary in 2010, originally stirred controversy among traditionalist worshipers due to its’ elaborate architectural design.

The Lady Chapel’s western wall is inset with picture windows celebrating famous women. These commemorate local heroes like Kitty Wilkinson and Agnes Jones, in addition to nationally famous female figures such as Elizabeth Fry, Grace Darling and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
