Opportunity: Board Members for Abandon Normal Devices *CLOSED*

Tue 16 Oct 2018

AND Board Opportunity

Established in 2009, Abandon Normal Devices now produces, develops and stages one of the biggest media arts festivals in the UK alongside a portfolio of film happenings, exhibitions, performances, online projects, residencies and public realm interventions.

As we look forward to our 10-year anniversary we are seeking dynamic and committed individuals to join AND’s Board of Trustees, supporting our further development and growth, building on our achievements and cementing AND’s growing international reputation.

Board members play an integral role not only in providing robust governance and stewardship but also externally supporting future development particularly through advocacy with regional and national stakeholders, potential funders and partners from the public and private sectors. Board members benefit from working with a small, creative and enthusiastic team on the strategic development of the organisation.

We are currently looking for people to join the Board with experience in the following areas:

Senior Arts Management
Creative and Media Industries
Charity and Company Governance
Fundraising
Human Resources

This is not an exhaustive list and we are interested in hearing from anyone who believes they have skills or experience to enable them to contribute.  AND is committed to Equal Opportunities and we positively encourage candidates who identify as BAME, disabled or are under 30 to apply for this role. If you do not feel that you meet the person specification in this recruitment pack but you are excited by and interested in the opportunity, please do get in touch with an expression of interest by Sunday 02 December 2018 to Vice-Chair Katie Moffat; katie@prandsocial.com.

Practical Details

AND’s Board currently meets in Manchester a minimum of four times annually, with additional occasional meetings and sub-committee group meetings, which can be attended via video call. The majority of trustees are currently based in the North West, but we welcome applications from individuals across the UK.

This is an unpaid role. AND will reimburse reasonable travel expenses to meetings in full. Indicative time commitment is one day per month
.

Application Process

If you would like to become an AND trustee please do get in touch by Sunday 02 December for an informal discussion with Vice-Chair Katie Moffat; katie@prandsocial.com and/or Director of AND, Ruth McCullough.

Position of Chair

After a successful tenure, the current Chair, Howard Rifkin, is due to step down from that role in 2019, as he will have served his maximum six year term as a trustee in early 2020.  So, as well as recruiting new trustees we are also looking to appoint a committed individual with the potential to lead the Board in the role of Chair. That role, plus the Vice Chair and Treasurer, are elected at the AGM and serve for a year.  For an informal conversation if you might be interested in taking on the role of Chair from 2019, please contact Howard; howardrifkin@btinternet.com.
