AND x Somerset House Studio x University of Salford Art Collection

Since April 2020, in response to the pandemic, Somerset House Studios have featured a series of new commissions from Studio artists responding to the provocation ‘I Should Be Doing Something Else Right Now’. An online programme exploring connection & commonality featuring live streams, online workshops, digital commissions & invitations to read, listen & pause.

So far the artists Vivienne Griffin, Juliana Huxtable, Alan Warburton and Sonya Dyer have responded to the provocation.  Experimenting with the production and editing tools to hand the artists, live stream performance from home, exploring work, play and process.

For the fifth event in the series, Abandon Normal Devices, University of Salford Art Collection and Somerset House Studios, have co-commissioned Studios resident Marija Bozinovska Jones to respond to the provocation.

In Beginningless Mind, Marija Bozinovska Jones presents an audiovisual trilogy with an experimental soundtrack composed by 33EMYBW and G. G. Biberkopf. Through the three visual essays, Bozinovska Jones considers planetary kinship as a visceral sense of interconnectedness grounded in terrestrial breathing patterns and how other ecosystems breath is mirrored in our own.

An element of the final artwork will be permanently acquired into the University of Salford Art Collection.

Beginningless Mind will be live-streamed online from 1st September. More details to follow.
