AND invited award winning artists from across the world to join in a celebration of the ‘artistic border-crosser’, artists who traverse roles as diverse as the alchemist, ethnographer, engineer and inventor. It was because of this, we changed the usual festival format to create a live laboratory featuring the making of projects and prototypes and inviting audiences to test and contribute to their evolution, like an industrial fable, you were asked to imagine a paradoxical future.

As part of AND 2013, FACT present the work of internationally recognized artist and pioneer of documentary film and video practice, Mark Boulos.

The exhibition, Boulos’ most ambitious to date, will feature a new, large-scale video installation combining innovative camerawork with the research of Professor Olaf Blanke, Director of the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience, Lausanne.

The spectacular SEFT-1 is a road and rail vehicle created by Mexican artists Iván Puig and Andrés Padilla Domene, also known as Los Ferronautas.

Having journeyed along the abandoned railways of Mexico and Ecuador, Los Ferronautas’ premiere UK expedition will see them attempt to adapt their futuristic autonomous vehicle to the waterways of the North West.
